I met Steph at a half marathon in Atlanta. She was a friend of my sisters and at that point, I couldn’t keep any of Ali’s work friends straight. Ali said, “Steph wants you to be her wedding photographer.” And I replied with, “Oh, awesome! When is she getting married?” Ali’s response was, “They aren’t engaged...” I was super confused (and flattered that she wanted me to be her wedding photographer), but after getting to know Steph, I could see that her and Nick were the type of couple who absolutely be spending the rest of their lives together.
Fast forward to a few months later, Nick proposed! In Hawaii. On a helicopter ride.
I wish I was making this up, but these two are adventurous as heck, fiercely dedicated to having fun with each other and very much in love.

Shortly after they got engaged, I got a text from Steph, saying that they were going to have a destination wedding, and would I still be their wedding photographer? DUH. My goal as a wedding photographer has always been to serve couples on their wedding day in the COOLEST destinations all over the world.

After MANY scheduled calls to go over every single details that goes into planning a destination wedding: hotel rooms, plane tickets, the timeline of the day, colors, family line ups, table arrangements, scouting the venue, doing a first look, and everything in between - the day had finally come!
Nick and Steph’s Cancun destination wedding venue was a beautiful (adults only) all inclusive resort in Cancun, facing the ocean. It was an intimate hotel, with the perfect beach spot for a ceremony that looks out over the gorgeous teal water of the Caribbean Ocean. The hotel was my favorite shade of bright yellow with stunning white marble tile floors that helped the bright Caribbean sunlight to bounce in all directions for a perfectly lit photo from any angle (at any time of day). AKA, a photographers dream. The hotel was surrounded by the lush greenery of palms, brightly colored plants that grew wildly, and blue sky in every direction.
The morning of the wedding, the sky was so blue it didn’t look real. The wind was blowing off the ocean, and the sun was bright. At a destination wedding in Cancun, you can really make your venue work for you and save money on decor. You can go dramatic and choose an ocean front ceremony with the fresh sea air. Or up the romance by having a relaxed boho reception on the beach underneath palm trees with lanterns and flowers to complete the look. There is no need to be restricted by what’s already there - bring your own ideas, decorations, and amenities in order to customize your experience!

Steph and Nick chose to have a barefoot, beachfront ceremony overlooking the Caribbean Sea. A poolside reception followed with beautiful candles and the perfect amount of ocean breeze. With the help of their wedding planner, Steph decided to keep the decorations minimal to allow Cancun’s natural beauty to be the wedding decor.
The entire wedding day went so smoothly, it was like a dream. Stephanie looked like a damn supermodel, Nick looked so handsome in his suit, when they stood side by side, they looked absolutely flawless - like they should be on the cover of a wedding magazine or something ;)
It brought me so much joy to spend the day with these two amazing people and their closest family and friends. Witnessing their genuine happiness, commitment to each other, and zest for life reminded me why I serve my wedding couples. Capturing timeless and vibrant photos of Nick and Steph on their wedding day was easily one of my top five moments of 2019!
