Take me back to California!
Let me just start by saying:
I LOVE SAN FRANCISCO!
Now that that's out of the way.. Ali and I spent three days in SF being *complete* tourists! We wore our running shoes because we walked everywhere, I carried a map (YES AN ACTUAL PAPER MAP) of the city, and we brought our phone chargers everywhere (*no judgement please*). The first day was AWESOME - we got picked up at the airport by my long lost friends from Italy, Josh and Mateo (they were racing in Santa Rosa on Saturday) and we toured the harbor, explored Pier 39 (where I may or may not have cried at all the sea lions) and we hiked *LITERALLY HIKED YOU GUYS* up Lombard Street.
Day two: Ali and I flew solo around the city. We started in Union Square - where I got the BEST breakfast of my life (the avocados are so freaking good in California). Then we migrated up to ChinaTown, around North beach and over to Union Street Markets to shop. We continued the hike (again, I'm not even joking about the hiking thing - the hills in SF are so steep!) across the city to the Golden Gate Bridge and we were SO excited to actually see it! The day before the harbor cruise boat captain told us
"If you want to see the Golden Gate Bridge... GOOGLE IT."
I was super upset when he said that, so obviously it was a huge deal when we saw it! We watched the sun set over the bridge, and it got progressively more beautiful - while also getting colder and windier.
Side note: Georgia has made me SUPER soft... I wore my winter jacket for two days in a row...
Day Three: We were whipped. We went for breakfast at a crepe place over by Golden Gate Park and then wandered all over the park - with the two main attractions being the bison paddock (because obviously we all know my favorite animal is the bison) and the conservatory of flowers to do a bridal shoot (and y'all. Those bridal images are so. stinking. gorgeous.) and check out that side of the park.
Fun fact: The Golden Gate Park is LARGER than the Central Park in Manhattan.
(I don't know if that's 100% accurate, but that's what our uber driver told us.)
Total walking mileage: 39 miles in three days. I didn't realize how HUGE this city was, until I saw that we walked SIXTEEN MILES on Wednesday. My feet deserve a pedi.
